Dear uReport Team, Over the last year, I have submitted uReports for cars that park right up to the intersection of Maxwell Lane and Eastside Drive. A Quick Look at the uReport category of Parking and its definitions of different scenarios does not include “cars parking to close to intersection “, so I’ve submitted uReports under the “Miscellaneous” category. By the time my report is read, it’s often too late for a Parking Enforcement Officer to be informed in a timely way and to take action. Could uReports create a separate scenario under PARKING for the situation I’ve described so that the information reaches Parking Enforcement quicker? Thanks, Diane Leirer

I would like to make known to you that I was a victim of racial profiling by one woman that works at the Bloomington Fire Department. This happened June 10 between 11:30 am to 12 noon at the Upper Cascades Lions Den shelter that she attended an event of Ivy Tech Community College. I was helping out and she asked me where I am from then I answered her I’m from Bloomington, then with an attitude asked me again where are you originally from? Me and my friend got caught off guard and answered her I’m from question.. Then she said that she was born and raised in New York then asked me why am I hear in Bloomington. It was so shocking to me that somebody approached me and my friend that way. Her name is Natalie and she was wearing a Bloomington Fire Department uniform. I hope this gets taken care off coz I’ve been serving I. This community for a long time and I have never experienced this in my life. I hope this will not fall on deaf ears. Thank you

I walk a lot, usually with my dog. Many, many times I have been very startled by bicyclists passing without alerting me to their presence. I often have no opportunity to get myself and my highly reactive dog out of their way. If my dog (or I) changes direction, a serious mishap could occur. What I'd appreciate is a reasonable call out ("on your left") or the use of a bell. I would say that only about 10 percent of bikers actually do this. Could the city please engage in some education regarding biking etiquette? Could we please have some signage in parks, on trails, and places where people often bicycle?

Report from Mr. Dennis Mayfield that on Friday, June 13, he saw about an acre-and-a-half of what he thinks is hemlock at/near the intersection of N. State Rd. 37 Business and Old State Rd. 37. This seems to be just on the edge of city limits. Submitted a report to indot4u.com as well on behalf of Mr. Mayfield.

We are trying to figure out with our neighbor how to manage invasive, prohibited species on the property line. We are submitting our letter from us to them and would like advisement from the appropriate city employee to make sure we handle the issue correctly. James and Constance, Upon my review, it is not clear who cut back the shrubs / vegetation. Ellee and I reviewed the type of plants affected and there were no trees, only shrubs / bushes, as designated by the Bloomington UDO. The area in question is in both a Utilities easement and a Water run off / drainage type easement. I am not sure if someone was contracted to maintain these areas. That said, we did notice a significant number of invasive plant species originating from your property and invading / growing onto our property. As per the Bloomington UDO, these specific plants should be removed from one’s property. Our cursory evaluation identified at least and not limited to: common privet, porcelain berry, Japanese honey suckle, winter creeper and English ivy and poison ivy. What we would like by July 1, 2025 is your plan to maintain or eliminate the plants on the city’s invasive species list that originate from your property and grow onto our property. We will then take your proposal to the City for approval, as it is well established that maintaining invasive species includes not letting the plant flower so as to limit spread. If you have any questions identifying the specific plants, Ellee has graciously agreed to donate her time and effort to help you identify. If you cannot come up with a definitive plan for invasive species maintenance or elimination, The Spiers will be happy to maintain the invasive species growing from your portion of the easement onto our property in a quarterly fashion. All we ask is that you hire an official surveyor to stake a clear delineation of property lines / easement, so we know which of your invasive species plants are our responsibility to maintain. As good stewards of the community and being good neighbors, we appreciate your prompt attention to this matter. Each season that goes by, your invasive species seed the creek and spread the invasive plants throughout Bloomington. If you cannot provide a reasonable plan, we will ask the City for assistance in devising a plan. Again, thank you for bringing this to my intention. I learned a lot about invasive species today.
