Trash in area behind convention center off blind trail
Trash in area behind convention center off blind trail
Gravel and broken asphalt that has washout on the street and into their yard, killing their grass.
Some sidewalks in the St James neighborhood off Moores Pike have low hanging branches obstructing walkers. These branches are from the trees planted by the City between the roadway and the sidewalks. In the past, the City has cut low hanging branches on trees and removed them. Will the City provide this service again to our neighborhood? Thanks.
The city did a storm drain project last week and left a large bag of conrete waste on the sidewalk. They removed signage related to construction. People use electric wheelchairs, strollers, carts, etc. often on Blair, but now they can't on the east side of the street, and there's no signage to warn people to cross the sidewalk before the obstacle. It's been like this all week - is it possible for the city to remove the (very heavy!) bag of waste concrete?
the property at the corner of roar and Kennedy has extremely tall pine trees. these trees are breaking off at the top and 20 ft sections are falling. one tree is leaned over the street and it's right at where the fire trucks enter an exit the fire station. I think the house is a rental and would be dangerous for anyone around that property.
This section of sidewalk along West Third is almost completely blocked by weeds.
Once again Street Department is repaving roads with barely any milling work done, this time on South Washington. Milling down 1' strips less than .5" at the curb and not milling at all in the middle of the road. The "repaving" here is just piling up over an inch of fresh asphalt on top of un-milled asphalt. This raises the grade of the road, which also means curbs are now effectively lower and storm drains that should be at grade are now sitting in a pit of asphalt.
Is it correct that invasive species management and overgrowth is no longer going to be addressed by City Staff as per local ordinances/code/law?
I have noticed that past couple of months that there is trash being left or not making it into the dumpster by someone. This is not your normal move out and leave furniture trash. I have been picking it up and dumping it in the trash since it has been drawing animals and insects, and when it rains it washed down into the street. I have included a picture from today. This dumpster does not have an enclosure to make sure trash is mot ending up in the bushes or on the ground and running into the streets or water. Someone in the neighborhood is either missing the dumpster or throwing it next to the dumpster on purpose. There is now broken glass and other dangerous/hazardous items around this dumpster because of it. My observations from the last few weeks of picking it up: The trash will be in plastic or paper grocery bags instead of trash bags. They always have diapers, eaten and uneaten food, canned food opened and unopened, and miscellaneous items like paper, wipes, cardboard, clothing, etc. With it being many instances in broad daylight and where the trash is placed and conditions of the bags, I do not think this is animals dragging the bags from somewhere else. My suspicions are this is a child being send to the dumpster by their parents to throw things out but they cannot reach the height since this is a taller unit. Also, I think it is someone from the granite units at the very ends on the west side of Dorchester, closest to the heritage Dorchester dumpster. First, I have noticed the trash ends up on the ground on the side where the door is closest to the granite units as long as it is open. If it is not, then it is on the other side. Second, I saw kids come from that building and walk to the dumpster and walk around it for a few minutes before they left on Friday. I could see their feet under the carport. I then found a pot with food in it left there when I investigated after they left when there was nothing there earlier. Also, we have valet trash in our units and are expected there use trash bags. I have also seen people from the granite units walk down here and dump their stuff in our trash unit who live on the West side of the street instead of using their own. I have been living here a while and have only recently seen this be a problem where this trash is left outside the bin or haphazardly thrown in there and not picked up when they see it is not in the bin. I thought I would let you know.
