This morning at approximately 8:20, while I was riding a bicycle southbound on the B-Line trail over the Grimes Street bridge, I met a full-sized truck driving northbound on the B-Line Trail over the bridge. The truck was labeled Bloomington Parks and Recreation, and I spoke with the driver and passenger, who were staff members of the Parks and Recreation Department. The posted rules of the B-Line trail prohibit motorized vehicles. I am aware that we make exceptions for motorized wheelchairs, electric bicycles, electric scooters, and the small trucks used by security and parks maintenance staff. However, my opinion is that a full-sized truck is well outside the range of acceptable exceptions. A full-sized truck is less safe, provides less visibility for the truck driver to see walkers and others on the trail, blocks more of the trail width, and causes more wear on the trail surface. My opinion is that full-sized trucks should not be on the B-Line, when there are alternate routes available for a truck on public streets, and alternative vehicles available to use on the B-Line trail.
Thank you for the all-way stop controls at the Fairview/11th intersection south/east of the railway! This has been a huge improvement to the intersection. Can we get a marked crosswalk just south/east of the railway bridge to cross from the north corner to the east corner (as shown on my laughably cartoony mark-up)? I know that this intersection has been considered recently, so there may be a reason why a marked crosswalk was not recommended. But if there is not a good reason, a marked crosswalk here would be so helpful.
Thank you to the Streets Division for the new curb ramps at the corners of North Fairview Street and West 11th Street around the underpass under the railroad! Can we please get a marked crosswalk across 11th Street on the southeast side of the railroad bridge, to connect two of the new curb ramps?
At the dead-end of 13th Street where it does not connect with Madison Street, there appears to be no drainage route for water to leave. During rain, it ponds, blocking the sidewalk and the road. The pond remains well after the rain stops. Can some provision for drainage be provided?
