Sorry if this is duplicate submission. Not sure last one went through. I have gulley in front of my house that is blocked by growth coming up between sparse rip rap. Water is eroding the gulley by finding path around foliage and leaves carried from upstream. Went out today after rain and water in not draining well at all. All the storm water runoff from the White Oak Cemetery basin, during very hard rains, cannot be handled by the 4-storm drains near the intersection of 7th and Oak Streets. The excess is diverted through the gravel parking of our neighbor at 1025 W 7th, washing the gravel onto the street. The storm water then turns and washes through the alley between 6th & 7th Streets. It then goes through our carport and yard washing our mulch away in places. Oak street was paved in the past and is higher than the storm drain at 7th and Oak so any excess water has do go through the gravel parking instead of down the street. I would be happy to meet someone to look at this problem. Thanks.
The drain covers in the 300 block of E. 7th street come loose and pop off whenever a car drives over them. The road is so narrow on the street due to bike lane that the west bound traffic comes too close to the curb and hits the drain covers. Can the city weld them down so they don't pop off?
The storm sewer on Franklin Road, just as it makes a 90-degree turn, is blocked. It does not drain water very well and accumulates. There are other storm sewers near that area that also need cleared.
The two drain covers on 7th at Dunn are loose and make a racket. Can someone provide an update on the status of the repair?
A fallen tree is partially blocking the drainage ditch that flows under the B-Line and railroad tracks, directly opposite the B-Line from lamppost 135.
On W. 9th St at the gutter drain just to the west of the BUtler Park Community gardens Parking lot, there is an increasingly large hole that I fear a person, bike, or eventually a car might fall into.
Wednesday, August 9 The catch basin on the west side of the street just north of where the Indiana Rail Road crosses Pete Ellis Drive seems to be plugged somewhere underneath the road. Debris doesn’t pile up on the grate the way it used to, and the large puddle I observed after this afternoon’s thunderstorm was draining only slowly. When we get a quick rain the shower downstairs backs up. I was concerned that it was an issue in my pipes but have had the drain snaked. Also I can turn on the shower and let it run for a while. It only happens when it rains and seems that it is getting worse. It's pretty nasty to clean up every time it rains. Is there anything the city can help me with on this issue?
I am submitting this Ureport on behalf of Upland Brewing. Pete Batule of Upland Brewing contacted me on 10-5-18 to say that Upland has been experiencing significant issues with odor coming from the storm drains on the north side of 11th street directly in front of Upland's patio. The odor is having a negative impact on their patio dining customers. Here is background on the issue as provided by Mr. Batule: Upland has had ongoing issues over the last few years with odors near the patio. They installed a piece of equipment above their lift station (the Peacemaker) next to the patio to neutralize the smell coming from the lift station. It wasn’t until the Peacemaker was installed that they suspected most of the odor was coming from the storm drains. Phil Peden has done some investigation on the storm drains. He noted there is an illicit connection tying to the north side of the storm box. Phil doesn't believe it is tied to a toilet because there isn't paper in it, but perhaps is related to byproduct or a wash drain/sink coming from elsewhere. Upland has dye tested their facility and found no evidence that the connection on the north side of the storm box is connected to their facilities. The odor comes on very strong at times to the point where they have to relocate customers. They notice an increase in odor around times when it rains and storm drain activity increases. James Hall and I discussed this issue on 10/8/18 and James has started to follow up internally at CBU on next steps. Kelly
