Dear Bloomington Utilities, I am writing to bring your attention to an urgent matter regarding an unusually high water bill that I have received. My name is Kumar Vinayak, and I am a resident at 3220 E John Hinkle Pl, Apt D, Bloomington, IN, 47408. I hope that you can assist me in resolving this issue promptly. Upon reviewing my recent bills, I have noticed a significant discrepancy in the water consumption. In the month of April, the recorded consumption was approximately 30 gallons, while in May, it unexpectedly increased to 35 gallons. These figures are undoubtedly incorrect, as such a volume of water cannot be reasonably consumed by a single individual. To address this concern, we immediately contacted our leasing office, as we suspected a possible emergency situation or water leakage within our house. They promptly responded by inspecting the property thoroughly but found no signs of any leaks or abnormal water usage. This observation leads us to believe that the issue may lie with the meter or its readings, as it seems to be continuously running even when the house is unoccupied. Given our status as students, it is financially burdensome for us to pay the exorbitant amount of approximately $1000 for water alone. This kind of billing discrepancy is highly abnormal, as it greatly surpasses our electricity bill, which amounts to approximately $100 per month. The street light south of aforementioned address is either very dim or just broken. Since that light is out of commission, all of Indiana Ave is poorly lit and deemed unsafe.

I was just walking at the intersection of Kirkwood and Grant and came upon a woman who had just tripped on an uneven sidewalk and hit her head on the sidewalk. She was bleeding from her brow. Two men were tending to her injury. I bystander sitting on the bench a few feet away told me what he’d seen, that she was walking east on Kirkwood, looked ahead of her for a second, and tripped over the uneven sidewalk. The lip is sticking up right next to a very small utility manhole-type thing. I have two more photos I took right away. This is of her blood spattered on the pavement. Can this uneven sidewalk please be repaired? It is clearly a hazard and would have to be problematic for anyone using a wheelchair there as well. Thank you.

I’ve had some health problems while staying in my apartment here in fountain park apartments due to black mold and a mice infestation. The black mold was found in my kitchen next to the water heater where it had flooded that year and soaked into the wood and rotted. They sprayed it with something to make it go away but I believe it’s still inside of the walls and other parts of the apartment. I’ve been having breathing problems the entire time I’ve stayed here and have documented it all. The apartment manager had someone do an air test inside and outside of the apartment. I don’t feel safe because of my existing health issues and I barely stay in my apartment. My apartment has flooded many times and according to my neighbor this has happened for years because of poor plumbing.
