I own the property located at 1005 N. Jackson St, 47404. Shortly after purchasing the property the house next door burned down. We felt very fortunate that our house was not damaged. The house was demolished, however, shortly after demolishing the house someone has set up a tent on the lot and multiple people have been seen using the tent. There is trash surrounding the tent. Though we have not seen a fire there is what appears to be a makeshift fire pit. We use this property as a short term rental and it has the proper permits. I am personally concerned about the safety of my wife who spends some of her days working on improvements within the property. Obviously concerned about the impact on our ability to rent the home with the above described situation. I'm not sure what can be done but after reviewing the code it does not seem like this fits the intended use of the property. I am also empathetic to the rise of homelessness in our community, but this is a residential neighborhood and for the safety of all community members something should be done. We dodged a serious issue when the house burnt down and worry we may not be so lucky if something happens again. Thanks for your attention to this matter, please reach out with any questions. Every since the parks department allowed tents at seminary park throughout the day there are increasingly large numbers of people not social distancing without mask in a small confined space. They are then dispersing throughout the community (Kroger, shalom, rally’s, etc...), once again not wearing mask. This is not what the CDC means when they say not to tear down homeless communities. It’s to prevent them spreading disease. Our homeless community still socializes without regard to others in the community and therefore not breaking up that tent camp is irrelevant to what the CDC recommends. Also there are tons of laws being broke at seminary park every day. The park is filled with trash, used needles, and feces just to name a few problems. Litter is blowing everywhere in the surrounding area. The law and rules apply to everyone in the community. Please hold everybody accountable! Failure to do so will impact Bloomington’s economy and slow the recovery through this pandemic.

Tent camp is growing quite large. This is against city ordinance. Same problem is going on at switchyard park. Homeless camps being set up in the area, people loitering, creating trash and littering, human waste, needles, etc. this is causing huge problems with nearby businesses and home owners. Been going on months/years? Will this ever be addressed in a manner needed to actually fix the problems? Or will Bloomington continue to enable these problems?

Siscoe residence, 1009 E Miller Drive has people living permanently in a tent behind the house. I don't think they are allowed access indoor plumbing or bathroom. There is also open drug use by these persons.
