Yesterday I observed two men sharing a crack pick smoking crack in front of the downtown post office. Today while having breakfast at McDonalds south Walnut while eating breakfast I observed a male dark T shirt and jeans and beard and a woman bonding hair white hooded sweat shirt sharing a crack pipe right in window by the outside tables and no one even blinked an eye. I guess this is Bloomingtons new norm turn blind eyes to narcotic use so typical.

Unsafe Buildings

113 N Smith Rd

Case Date:
5/25/2025

Backside of Yorktown Courts apartment building has back wood tri-level-deck that has center-vertical, main-support beam, sinking into ground so much that the 2nd & 3rd-floor decks are dangerously straining their connections to the building and interconnections to the whole structure, to a degree that the strain of the back-porches poses a risk of collapsing under strain. The location of these wood decks, face towards to animal veterinary clinic on N. Smith Rd. Center-support-post requires jacking up & leveling of decks after a new& properly poured foiter-base is installed for new center support beam to be placed under 2nd-story deck.

Animal Control & Neglected Pets

Hi, Every year our block has 1-3 fawns born and the mother deer are protective for about 3 weeks, and especially aggressive towards dogs. At the very end of the birth cycle last spring 2024, the city put a couple signs up to warn the dog walkers off our block. That would be wonderful to have again this year - our first 2025 fawn must’ve been born today in the backyard of mine (808) or my neighbor’s (810) backyard on S Fess. If we could please have 2 signs for the next month or so to post out front at the ends of the block, that would be very helpful. Some folks know the drill and move back quickly and others take less effective approaches that endanger themselves and their dogs. Thanks! MaryAnn

Blocked Street

250 S Washington ST

Case Date:
5/19/2025

On Saturday 17 May at 7:11pm, there was a vehicle parked right in the street without lights flashing and with no occupant - supposition is that it was a delivery person who thinks the rules don't apply to them. This is a *very* common occurrence at this particular location. Seems like with the police station so close, delivery drivers would hesitate to block streets like they do. Is it possible to talk to the management of the establishment about this? Or could there be an officer stationed there once in a while handing out tickets? I imagine you could make a lot of money for your office slush fund, and just doing it a few times might result in a long-term fix.

Street Lights

366 S Washington ST

Case Date:
5/7/2025

The townhouses/apartment complex that is located at 342, 348, 354, 360, 366, 372, 378, 384, 390, 396 S Washington St has five street lamps that are out. Of the five, three are missing significant sections of the post itself, one even with exposed wires. These lamps have been damaged or out since at least January 2025. This part of S Washington St is pitch black at night and it is the largest portion of the street like this. I have tried to address this issue several times, with no avail. Please contact this residency about the street lamps, as this has been an ongoing and dangerous issue.
