Large numbers of people appear to be living semi-permanently in Switchyard park, and are occupying shelter buildings, Bocce ball courts, and have setup tents near the woods by the creek. This situation has been going on all summer. Yesterday we saw a fairly large group assembled under the shelter directly next to the playground with a large amount of belongings next to them, including a large car wheel and tire. I am sensitive to the needs of the very large homeless population in our city, but there should also be a certain level of respect and rules that protect the experience for other users of the park. It would be a shame if this beautiful park is taken over like what happened with Seminary Park. Can clear guidelines be defined as to what will be done here, within the context of the larger homeless problem?

Seminary park is an absolute disgrace, but I’m sure you already know that. Apparently the city of Bloomington is perfectly fine with it.

Homeless encampments in seminary park? Why is this allowed? I witnessed a man urinating in open air outside tent at 645 am while I was dropping mail. How is this happening? There are services all over town.

the vote to remove the homeless camp at Seminary park was, by any moral opinion, disgusting, reprehensible, and downright evil. how dare you sit in your offices and make the decision to leave hundreds of people without any form of shelter, on the streets, at the beginning of winter. i understand an alternative was given night of, but those people are in the position they’re in because the government has proven time and time again that it will fail them when they need the help. you have proven this point to them once again. they had no reason to accept your handout, shame on all of you.

The condition under the bridge at grimes and Morton is progressively getting worse. Tons of trash, illegal camping/living, and unsafe conditions. Please take care of this before it gets to the point of seminary park! If nothing is done it will progressively get worse and somebody will get hurt!

There is tons of trash from homeless camps/people all along the b-line. Most importantly by Kroger seminary square and under the bridge by grimes and Morton. Since the city refuses to clean it up or hold anybody accountable, I urge all Bloomington residents to pick up the trash and dump it on the courthouse. Don’t worry you can’t get in any trouble, since they have known about these issues for multiple months and are ok with not doing anything they cannot all of a sudden decide to enforce the laws now! #takebackourcity

The condition around the area of grimes and Morton on the b-line gets worse and worse by the day. There is trash everywhere! There are several illegal dwellings. Lots of stolen items from tax paying citizens (bikes, shopping carts, signs, etc). Why has the city allowed this for 6+ months? I get it, you would rather have them there vs. campus area or seminary square, but you were elected to withhold the laws/rules of the city for tax paying citizens. So do your job!!!!

I beg of the city to do something about the homeless using stolen shopping carts! It’s been going on way too long!! There are dozens upon dozens of shopping carts all over town. (That you can see…prob 5xs that in the woods, streams, sewers) Either in use by homeless or abandoned they need returned! It is a huge eye sore and is making this city look like crap. Most are downtown and around seminary park and the shalom center! I can’t imagine the expense impacting local businesses!!

There is a tent erected in Seminary Square Park. Someone appears to be living in it. Worst government in 50 years. Why do you pass these ordinances if you don’t plan to enforce.
