Received email from Phil Peden @ Utilities: "I recently drove by the pond and it looked well maintained, possibly freshly mowed. We looked up the covenants and restrictions for this development and it says that the existing detention ponds are exempt, and are therefore not required to have their grass below the maximum 6 inch height. It is not uncommon for communities to require/allow tall grass to grow around the edge of retention ponds. It provides habitat for wildlife and disuades geese from using the land around the pond. Maybe the home owner could speak to the owner of the detention pond and receive permission to mow the portion they want to have regularly mowed." This appears to be an invalid complaint. Closing for now.

Went to pond with Linda Thompson from Planning. She said they could mow the grass back from the road a few feet, but not go crazy with it--it would do environmental damage to pond to mow it too close. Also she wanted to see plot lines and who is responsible.

DS has spoken with Justin Wykoff who will be sending a letter to property owners to mow and maintain the tree plot along Tapp Rd. She also spoke w/pond owner who said last time they mowed close to the water, their mower got stuck and had to be pulled out with a tractor. But he will do some cutting there.

Talked to Justin. Will provide me a copy of the letter he initially sent to property owners. If cannot find, will send new letter to property owners

DS is contacting Public Works about mowing this initially and then having adjacent property owners maintain it thereafter as required by code. Our dept. or theirs will send letters to property owners.

DB, tall grass around pond, and along road. Will contact owners of pond and find out who is responsible for weeds along road.

Also please check the pond area to see if grass is overgrown as well. THANKS!
