Trails:

Hi. I'm writing as the vice-president of the Near Westside Neighborhood Association. At our meeting last night, we discussed the assault that took place on the B-Line April 7th. A question came up as to how often the section between Fairview and North Adams is patrolled. Most of us felt that we see officers more often in the sections to the east of Fairview. And now that there is no summer shelter, we're wondering how to ensure our safety when walking that part of the trail. Thaks for your help! Sophia Hauserman

Judy e-mailed the following: The Bloomington Police Department patrols the entire 3.1 mile length of the B-Line Trail daily, on every shift. The amount of time spent on each section of the trail is based on the number of calls received. The trail is lighted and large numbers continue to use it daily between the posted hours of 5am-11pm. As in any public location, there is strength and safety in numbers. Walking, running, and biking in a group adds a margin of safety. Take your cell phone with you and we hope you and your neighbors will continue to enjoy the B-Line Trail. Thank you for your comments. The safety of our parks, trails and facilities is very important to us and we value citizen feedback.
