Sidewalk Snow Removal:

Other: The connector paths on Olcott Park trail from Mill Stone Way and Jackson Creek Middle School did not get plowed at all this year. No way for students to get from school parking lot to make it through Olcott Park to the adjoining neighborhood. Very dangerous walking up/down the paved connector path from Mill Stone Way to Olcott Park Trail. These were overlooked this year. The thaw/refreeze of the snow made these access trails very dangerous

The frequent heavy snows and cold temperatures made snow removal a challenge for all City departments this winter and strained resources allocated for snow and ice removal. The Parks department has a large list of park, trail, and facility locations for snow removal that are prioritized based on ordinance requirements (city sidewalks), access to park facilities, and level of public use. Based on public feedback we continually review our snow removal priorities and procedures, and try to be as responsive as possible. A portion of the connecting path from Millstone Way to the Olcott Park path is on park property, and within the resources we have available, we will attempt to place a higher priority on clearing this access route in the future. Thank your for taking the time to share your comments. Respectfully, Dave Williams Operations Director Bloomington Parks and Recreation
