After emailing with citizen, we are noting these concerns and will investigate improvement opportunities as part of a larger signal retiming effort
Other: Traffic southbound on Jordan is always held up by people waiting for the left turn to go east on Atwater. Countless times I've seen that the light has already cycled to yellow by the time northbound traffic has cleared, and as a result cars have backed up all the way to third st. If the switching equipment allows jordan southbound to get green BEFORE jordan northbound, it will improve intersection throughput tremendously.

Mr. McKinnie, I'm writing in response to a uReport you submitted regarding the intersection of Jordan and Atwater. First off, let me apologize for delay. We're working through a backlog of reports and I'm sorry about how long it's taken to respond to you. I took a quick look at the intersection and equipment, but unfortunately it appears that the intersection would require some new hardware in order to allow the southbound direction to get a green light before the northbound traffic. We can certainly investigate those improvements, but an immediate change won't be possible. I'm planning some observations of the intersection in order to gain a better understanding of the issues you describe. Are there certain times of day when you observe these back-ups? Any insight you can provide will make these observations more productive. Also, just for your information, the City is preparing to start a city-wide analysis and retiming of all the traffic signals. This analysis will also be helpful in identifying and prioritizing necessary equipment upgrades (such as those required at Jordan/Atwater). That project is funded and will likely begin in early 2016. Thank you for bringing this issue to our attention and feel free to follow up with questions or comments,
Field observations not currently possible due to road closure on Atwater west of Jordan. Waiting until IU in session to get better observations.
Neil - Please take a look at this intersection. An observation may be necessary and things will change once IU starts back up. Options are limited without exclusive left-turn lanes. Signal timing changes may be possible and beneficial.
this traffic signal still needs to be evaluated. ld
