Other: Why can't a store like Vintage Wearhouse on 4th St buy used items from local individuals and a store like Once Upon a Child can? Seems like whatever regulation governs that is incongruous.

Sent the following email: Hello Joanna, Thanks for your recent email regarding used items at Vintage Wearhouse. According to my records Vintage Wearhouse does have a Secondhand Dealers license, so they are allowed to purchase used items from the public and resell them. There are certain things that can be bought and resold without a Secondhand Dealers license, for example clothing. That's why Once Upon a Child doesn't not need a license, but since Vintage Wearhouse buys and sells other items, they do need a license. I'm not sure what you tried to sell them or why they didn't purchase it, but they technically do have a license. Ultimately it is up to the business owner to decide what they want to buy and sell. Attached is a copy of the Secondhand Dealers license application. The last few pages is the actual ordinance that regulates this activity. Look through this if you like to see what types of items can be bought and sold with or without a Secondhand Dealer license. Thanks and if you have additional questions feel free to contact me. Jason

Hi Jason, Is this a second-hand dealer licensing issue? Does Vintage Wearhouse simply need a license to do so? Could you research if necessary with Patty or Tom (maybe it's a zoning thing?) and reach out to the citizen? Let me know outcome. Thanks!
