City of Bloomington, Indiana

closed: Resolved #148659

Street Lights:

Other: Eighth Street is extremely poorly lit. From Walnut all the way to Fess there are almost no street lights and its extremely dangerous. I feel unsafe walking home from the IU campus at night, or even walking home from a restaurant in the evening. The lack of street lights in this area is simply ridiculous. The city of Bloomington has an obligation to make sure its citizens are safe and it is neglecting to do so. The area that is the subject of this complaint is the exact same street in which Hannah Wilson was abducted and murdered, and within the last month the exact same street has been the location of an armed robbery. There is plenty of evidence to suggest that something must be done to make this area safer. The city has a responsibility to do everything within its power to protect its citizens, and adding a few streetlights hardly seems like an impossible task.
