Emailed Mr Withnell. Removing the crosswalk markings is unlikely to have any effect on compliance. Additionally, the other legs of the crosswalk will be marked shortly in coordination with another project.
Other: I recommend removing the new zebra crossing at the lights on the corner of 3rd and Jordan. It is the only zebra crossong at this intersection but all pedestrian crossing at this intersection is controlled by crossing signals. I have seen a number of pedestrians cross against the crossing signal at this zebra crossing suggesting there may be some confusion regarding when pedestrians can cross.

Mr. Withnell, Thank you for submitting this uReport regarding the crosswalk at 3rd and Jordan. You are correct that currently the crosswalk on the north leg of the intersection is the only marked crosswalk at this intersection. The crosswalks on the other legs of the intersection have not been marked yet due to an upcoming project that will improve curb ramps, sidewalk, and drainage facilities along the south side of this intersection. The remaining crosswalks will be marked in coordination with that project. Once complete, there will be crosswalks across all four legs of the intersection which may reduce some confusion. However, given the volume of pedestrians that cross the street at this intersection, I wouldn't expect much change in behavior due to pavement markings. The north leg of the intersections is also the only leg with a median between the two directions of travel, making it possible for pedestrians to cross only half the road at a time. It's likely that most pedestrians crossing illegally do so knowingly. Thanks again for sending this information and please feel free to give me a call with further questions or comments, - Neil
