Biking & Walking:

Other: I am writing to express my concern over the design of the Third street corridor, from just east of Jordan St. running east to High St. As a daily commuter cyclist, I am concerned about the design of the bike and bus lanes on the north side of Third St. There is no safe way to ride east from the university, on Third St or Atwater. Obviously the north bike lane allows safe passage into the university but the width of the lane on Third St. means that as a cyclist heading east, cars are backed up behind me until they can pass.

Discussed with BPSC. General agreement to move forward with restriping to install bicycle lanes in both directions (rather than a wide bicycle lane in one direction). This is the proposal previously emailed to requester. Installation will likely not be possible until at least summer 2016 due to weather and workload for the markings crews.

after multiple attempts to connect with citizen on the phone, sent email describing current conditions, my interpretation of her request and my proposal (that 3rd between Mitchell and Rose be restriped to included bicycle lanes in both directions instead of just one bicycle lane westbound)
