Outside of right of way.
Other: Sidewalk directly east of/ next to Noodles Restaurant building @ 517 E. Kirkwood is completely dark afer 5:30 pm. Last night, there were people in the tree/shrub area as we walked toward the restaurant, hidden from view. Construction tarp along this sidewalk makes walking along this strip between building potentially dangerous. There is no lighting coming off of the building or the construction site/lot. Suggest some type of lighting from building or IU lot now storing construction materials.
Outside of right of way.
Based on feedback from James I submitted the following response: "Anne, I looked into these locations and have the following to report back: *Directly east of Noodles restaurant - This sidewalk is outside of the public right of way on the IU owned parcel. The City does not have the ability to install, or require installation of, illumination on this sidewalk. I suggest contacting either of the adjacent properties and/or their property management and asking if they would install some lighting. *West side of Indiana north of Kirkwood - This luminaire is a private light on IU property. Your best bet to activate this light is to contact IU and ask for them to turn it on. I hope you find this information helpful. Unfortunately, both of these locations are outside of the City's control and there isn't much more that we can do to help. Thank you"
Ms. Holahan responded with the following: "There are 2 sidewalks that are dark, actually, and not the one you note in 300 block. 1) Directly (east of) next to the "Noodles" restaurant in the Old Von Lee Building. There is a red tarp on one side w/construction fencing and the brick wall without any lights on the west side of the sidewalk (this sidewalk separates the IU parking lot now construction zone from the building @ 517 E. Kirkwood). 2) the block between E. Kirkwood & Sample Gates corner heading north on the west side of N. Indiana (next to construction fence & tarp) has a black old-fashioned looking light post/light that is not operational within the construction tarp - along the sidewalk it is very dark even with the higher light poles working." Inquiring with Public Works and Development Services on the issue.
Emailed Ms. Holahan to verify location of issue.
