this is a function of the Monroe County Health Dept. Vector control officer. We looked for trash or other areas that we could address under Title 6 or Title 16. We did not find anything.
Phone Call: Called to report a rat infestation in Kensington/Hyde Park. She has 22 rat holes in her yard alone. Someone from MoCo Public Health came out recently, after Ms. Nephew called that department, and found rat holes on 8 properties across 3 streets, minimally. I suggestd that Ms. Nephew contact both Animal Control and HAND because there's an ongoing issue with her neighbor leaving out birdfeed, debris and composting materials that are likely feeding the rats. this is a function of the Monroe County Health Dept. Vector control officer. We looked for trash or other areas that we could address under Title 6 or Title 16. We did not find anything.
The original complainant called again on 10/3/2016 to say that she has found another property in the neighborhood that has holes. She said she would get the address and call back. I have not heard from her.
I visited this site on Friday, 9/30/2016 with Dee Wills. We did not see any rats, or any areas we could write a NOV for. I spoke to the complainant again. She feels that we should have a plan in place to address this type of situation. I re-iterated that this is a function of the Health Department. I told her she could address her concerns and ideas to the City Council and the Mayor's office.
Animal Care and Control is not equipped to handle vermin infestations. This falls upon the homeowner. Spoke with HAND department. They are aware of the situation and working with complainant.
Thanks for your help!
