I have placed location on Public Works Street Lighting Request Worksheet for consideration this year and I have emailed Mr. Schramski of this action.
Other: I am seriously concerned that there is no street lamp at W Vernal and N Adams and/or W 8th St. and W Vernal (Waterman). The fact that these two major intersections in western Bloomington have no street lights, when the area is known to have a relatively high-rate of nighttime crime, makes little sense to me. Moreover, as my wife and I are commuter cyclists and often return home at night, these are the only sections of town between the University and our house which aren't lit. So not only is the lack of city street lights/lamps a crime issue, it's also a public safety and transportation issue as well. I look forward to a street light(s) installation in this section of town very soon. Thank you for your consideration, Sam.

Mr. Schramski, Thank you for taking the time to communicate with the City of Bloomington regarding the intersection of 8th & Vernal. The Department of Public Works leases lights from Duke Energy and pays for the installation, energy usage and maintenance costs to illuminate the public right of way. The number of lights installed each year is dependent upon available funding. Each fall Public Works takes a look at citizen request locations and determines the installation list for the year. I have placed this intersection on our 2016 request list for consideration. I will keep you updated on this process. Again, thank you for your email and have a great day! Christina Smith

Sounds like a good candidate, but I know we have a bit of a backlog of requests.
