Traffic Signals:

Other: Patterson traffic lights at West 2nd have never been green long enough. This causes traffic to back up on Patterson and people running the red light to get through the intersection. Patterson needs another 5 seconds of green for the left turn arrows and 5 more seconds green to cross 2nd Street. This would allow another 3-5 cars through the intersection each cycle. Most of the time there's no traffic on 2nd Street while the Patterson lights are red.

Sent the following email to Mr Clark on Nov 9th: I looked into the concern and have the following insights to share: The City recently implemented some signal timing changes in the area as a part of an ongoing citywide effort to bring our traffic signal operations into compliance with industry best practices (safety and accessibility requirements) and to enhance overall traffic flow where possible. The 2nd/Patterson intersection requires a lengthy signal cycle to accommodate necessary intervals for pedestrians to cross the street due to its size and unique geometry. We coordinated this intersection to primarily benefit traffic on 2nd/Bloomfield as that facility has higher traffic demand. I recognize that at times 2nd/Bloomfield may stay green longer than necessary and that may be frustrating while waiting for a green indication on Patterson. Adding more time to certain movements on Patterson would result in taking this intersection out of coordination with adjacent intersections. I understand traffic on Patterson is generally able to clear the intersection in one signal cycle with the timing parameters currently provided. We are getting ready to initiate a project that will modernize the 2nd/Patterson intersection for the benefit of all users. Construction will likely occur in 2019. I'm hopeful that this project will provide the City opportunities to further enhance the intersection's efficiency and safety. At this time we don't plan on making any immediate changes to the signal operation. Doing so may decrease delay at this intersection for traffic on Patterson but that traffic would then likely have to stop at the next intersection. Further, it would have negative implications on the coordination of the major corridor (2nd/Bloomfield) as well. Let me know if you have any follow-up questions or comments.

I went out and looked at this and didn't find anything at this time . I think it's more about complaining than anything else.
