Other: Hi, I'm a resident in the Elm Heights neighborhood. For some time now, my neighborhood has noticed that there is a very suspicious chemical smell--often sickly sweet--around Carlisle Brake and Friction. After conducting citizen science for several months (that is, recording when and where we smell the chemicals, as well as the day's conditions), we noticed that the smell often occurs when the building has just been repainted (this is done excessively often, and the smell does not smell like wet or drying paint) or on rainy/humid days when it is difficult to monitor the atmosphere. I hope the city will look into this issue, as it continues to be a problem in a residential area. I'll gladly provide the details of our records.

Sent the following email: Hello Chloe, Thank you for your recent email via uReport regarding odor coming from Carlisle. I'm sorry to hear that you're having a problem with odor in your neighborhood. Over the last few years I have spoken with others in your neighborhood about this same issue. After receiving your email, I reached out to my contact at Carlisle. He said that they are in the process of evaluating a couple different solutions to the problem. He hopes to let me know what they come up with in the first quarter of 2017. I do know that from review IDEM (Indiana Department of Environmental Management) records that no violations have been issued due to the odor, and that Carlisle is in compliance with IDEM regarding the chemicals they use. Thanks again for contacting me about this. Should you have any other issues feel free to contact me directly. Best, Jason
