Drainage or Runoff:

Other: I am a resident at Patterson Pointe, 454 S Westplex Ave. The construction at the site directly east of the apartment building has begun with earthwork. A pit has been dug on the site and now contains green water. I don't know where the water has accumulated from, it's more than rain or runoff. Will the city check the water for contamination and make sure it is pumped out and disposed of properly? You don't need to contact me about this, I just wanted to make sure someone at the city is aware. Thank you.

I visited the site and spoke to Kyle Klingler with the construction company, HM Mac. When I first pulled up he was pumping the water out of the pit into a storm inlet. He explained that the pit was a result of the excavation and removal of contaminated soil from an old fuel tank. The material was hauled to a landfill with all the proper paperwork. He said he would pump the water out of the pit and into a tank. After returning to the office, I contacted IDEM LUST department to discuss the proper disposal of the water that was in the pit. They then called Kyle and spoke to his supervisor. HM Mac is going to pump the water out of the pit and into a tank, test the water, and then CBU can make a determination on where the water can go.

Not sure who needs to go check this out. By "pit," I'm assuming she just means a hole because there wouldn't be any meter pits in the area where they are clearing.
