Sidewalk & Curb Complaints:

Other: Curb has disintegrated over the years. As people turn from Jackson st onto Smith Ave they are driving onto my property due to there being a lack of boundary between the road and my back yard. My property is 606 W. Howe Street and the issue is the the backyard where it boarders Smith Ave. My husband and I would really appreciate it if this curb could be rebuilt to prevent further damage. Thank you!

Sent the following response via email: Thank you for taking the time to submit a uReport with your curb request for Smith Avenue. There are many streets within the City that do not have a curb and the City does not typically install curbs on those streets to provide a boundary between the road and adjacent yards. Residents sometimes utilize landscaping features to deter people from parking or driving off the road surface. When installed, curbs are typically used for the purpose of storm water management. Street Department and City of Bloomington Utility (CBU) staff don't have records of installing a curb along the portion of Smith that backs your property. Given this information and limited resources to be prioritized throughout the City, CBU and the Street Department do not currently plan on rebuilding the curb adjacent to your property. Please let me know if you have any additional comments or questions.
