Potholes, Other Street Repair:

Other: The corner bump-out on W 3rd at S Fairview juts out too far into the street and cars drive over it which often causes flat tires...two this past Sunday! Since W 3rd is getting fully re-paved soon (because of the sewer replacement work that is finished now) I wonder if you could shave two feet of the bump out? To be clear, I think the bump out needs to be there...it's only the south cement "curb" that needs to be cut short and re-cemented. Thanks, Jaclyn

After investigation, speaking with constituent and discussing with traffic engineers the decision is to re-paint the curb yellow and add reflectors or a delineator post to draw attention to the curb. If these changes do not improve the situation the constituent can pursue changing the island curb with the neighborhood association. The demand for these traffic calming islands years ago was a large factor in our decision. I contacted the constituent via email to inform of our decision. I also contacted street department to make changes.

I have visited this intersection and taken pictures of the current bump-out. We will be discussing the cause of and possible solutions to the issue with this bump-out at our meeting next Tuesday 4/25. I will contact the constituent to inform them of any decision that is made.
