uReport

City of Bloomington, Indiana

closed: Invalid #159214

Traffic Suggestions:

Other: Traffic jams on 2nd and 3rd streets. Synchronizing the lights would greatly reduce backed up traffic. A lot of times during rush hours traffic is halted because the lights all seemingly change at different times

Hi Kofii, Thank you for submitting this uReport regarding the signal timing on 2nd and 3rd streets. In order to respond to this request it would be helpful for us to have more detail. Which specific portion of 2nd or 3rd Street, which direction are you traveling, and what time of day? In general I can tell you that the signals are supposed to change at different times from one another in order to create progression for certain movements through a corridor (a series of green lights that improves efficiency for the higher volume movements). You may be witnessing a movement that is not prioritized. Also note that there may be times during rush hour when no amount of signal retiming would eliminate all stops. Thanks and please feel free to follow up with more details. - Neil
