Trails:

Other: I was walking my dog this morning on the trail at Winslow and High (I call it the goat farm, but am not sure if this is the correct name). There are signs all over about Pesticide use stating that it was applied on Wednesday and should be avoided until Saturday. Yesterday when I was walking my dog these signs were not posted yet and he (and I think many other neighborhood dogs) went in that area. I am concerned that the signs were not posted earlier as I would not have gone there to walk my dog. In the future could you post signs alerting that this will be done as well WHEN it is done?

Consulted with Natural Resources staff and emailed citizen. Signs were posted in advance of treatment noting date of treatment and date for safe re-entry into the area. Spot treatment is being done on the prairie site in preparation for fall planting. Staff will consider the suggestion in the uReport for posting signage more in advance and recording on the sign when the work has been done.

Hi Cynthia- Thank you for filing the uReport regarding the work being done at the Goat Farm. We are preparing the site for a prairie and needed to do some spot treatment in advance of planting this fall. The treatments we do are per our Integrated Pest Management plan which includes steps for posting signs to alert citizens in advance of a treatment. I talked to the Natural Resources staff working on this project. The signs were posted Thursday, Oct. 19 at 9am and spot treatment was done in the middle of the prairie at 10:15. Staff were on site to monitor the drying which occurred at 2pm and they left the site at 3:15pm. Once the treatment is dry it is safe for use however, we post extra time on our signs. They do plan to a bit more work there today and will update the signs to reflect their work. I have passed along your suggestion for posting well in advance and then posting when the treatment is done. The IPM team meets weekly and will discuss changes at their meeting next week. Thank you for contacting me. Please let me know if you have any additional question. I can be reached via this email address or 812-349-3711. Thank you- Paula
