Other: I've contacted the Parks Department before about my concern that the lights along the trail and connection to the B-line either have no lights or broken lights that don't function. I've watched as Butler Park has had an increase in use from new families in the area and feel this will only increase in the coming years. It is a safety concern that the Northeast area of the park has no lighting. In addition, the Indiana Railroad came through and decimated the trees along the tracks bordering the park. They have never cleaned this up and several of these large trees are leaning against the light poles and hanging over the trail. I wondered when the lights might be fixed/added and when the railroad will be required to clean up their mess? I see proper lighting in other nearby parks properties (building & trades and the B-line) and don't understand why Butler Parks condition is not more of a priority. The park offers a great spot for nearby families and individuals to spend time as well as those visiting to use the gardens or ball-field and as this use increases it would be nice to see it get some attention.

We are investigating the costs to repair the existing pathway lights in Rev. Butler Park. Habitat for Humanity has not conveyed the trail connection to the B-Line Trail property but that should happen soon. The majority of City parks and trails in Bloomington are not lighted due to funding and operational costs. There are no plans at this time to install additional funding on the B-Line Trail connection. We did express concerns about the Railroad's right of way clearing, however, we have received little attention from them. Parks staff will remove leftover vegetation and any hazardous trees.
