uReport

City of Bloomington, Indiana

closed: Resolved #165321

Traffic Signals:

Other: Crossing 11th under the train bridge is dangerous. Vehicles cannot see the pedestrian crossing on the other side of the bridge. We should have flashing pedestrian lights that a pedestrian can activate when crossing 11th on either side of the bridge. Lights similar to 4th and Rodgers would be perfect.

emailed constituent with following message. location added to evaluation list for upcoming project. Matthew, my apologies for the delay in responding to this uReport regarding the pedestrian crossing of 11th at Fairview (at the railroad tracks). This intersection is certainly unconventional and the railroad bridge structure does limit visibility. We do not have an active project for this area, but we do have an upcoming project to improve numerous crosswalks throughout the City (improvement types will likely vary and could involve flashing beacons or geometric changes). That project has not finalized which crosswalks would be included, but I will add this intersection to the list of locations to evaluate. I appreciate you bringing this location to our attention and please feel free to follow up with further questions or comments.
