City of Bloomington, Indiana

closed: Resolved #165717

Blocked Street:

Other: 10th Street SPEA crosswalk literally blocks street for long periods of time during the day causing vehicle backups. Needs to have a timed signal or be an over or underpass ideally or SOMETHING to prevent regular backups. Makes no sense to clog traffic to the degree when crosswalks at lights are nearby. Yes, it's on campus but until there is a different route 10th will be used heavily by cars needing to actually move. Thank you for ANY improvement that can be made.

Thank you for your comment. Several options will continue to be considered for 10th Street at the location with the highest volume of pedestrians crossing a street in the City. A pedestrian overpass is not being considered. A pedestrian bridge is difficult for pedestrians, especially pedestrians who use wheelchairs or other mobility devices. For City Transportation, safety is our priority along with following the goals in the Comprehensive Plan. Because the comment was made anonymously, I cannot email or circle back with you directly.
