Other: I am writing about the fact that there seem to be some cars that just use the 4th street garage as a storage place for their cars. The city suffers from not enough free parking downtown and the 4th street garage seems to be the place for people to store their trucks/automobiles for covered parking. I know for a fact that there is a very large white truck on the first floor of the garage that has just been sitting there for several days and hasn't moved. I don't even know if the truck has a monthly permit, but with free parking so scarce downtown, it would be nice if people would not be able to store their cars in that garage. I have poor Ivy Tech students who can't find any free parking during class time at the Waldron Arts Center and are pretty much forced to pay and extra $100 a semester just for street parking. I would appreciate somebody getting back with me on this matter. Thanks. Ingrid Faber

Thank you for contacting the City of Bloomington in regards to your parking issue. The 4th Street garage is a monthly and transient facility operating 24/7 allowing anyone to park their vehicles in the facility whenever space is available. Parking is restricted to first come, first served. There are no time frames or limitations on the amount of time a parker may park in the facility or who may park in the facility. Monthly and transient parkers may use the garage as needed and may stay as long as they wish. If your students wish to purchase monthly parking passes, they may do so at the garage office at Morton Street Garage. However, there is a 3 year waiting list for that facility as the number of spaces is limited and is quite the popular garage due to the low rates. Should you have any other questions, feel free to contact me at 812.349.3844. Ryan Daily Parking Garage Manager
