I wanted to quickly follow up on this request as I see it has been a while since my initial email. I unfortunately do not have updated traffic counts to report for this area. The latest count we have was taken in 2009 between College Mall Rd and Auto Mall Rd. The speeds from that count may be artificially low because it is between the traffic signal and a stop sign, but the 85th percentile speed was 27mph (compared to many other streets in the City this is relatively low).
City staff have had a number of discussions recently about our traffic calming process. Per city code, the only way we can move forward with traffic calming requests within a neighborhood is by following the Neighborhood Traffic Safety Program (NTSP, link to document here). Most people familiar with that process agree that it would benefit from a rewrite and we've started to look at options for updates with the hope of completing an update within the next year. For the moment, however, we have to follow the existing process. If you would like to pursue a traffic calming request, then I recommend first reading through the NTSP. The first step of the program (Apply to Participate) requires the applicant to submit a petition signed by at least 51% of all affected households and businesses. Feel free to follow up if you have questions about the program or would like help identifying the area that would be required for signatures. Please also be aware that the City has to prioritize many competing needs, including traffic calming requests in other areas, and completion of the NTSP does not guarantee that the City will have available funding for construction.
Thank you and please feel free to follow up with questions,

Constituent emailed with the following message:
thanks for submitting this uReport regarding traffic calming on Covenanter and I apologize for the delayed response. Unfortunately, we receive numerous requests for traffic calming throughout the City and have to prioritize time and resources. We typically start by collecting data to see how the speeds compare to other streets. I will put Covenanter on our list to get a traffic count (fyi there is a queue of other streets that also need counts so it may take some time). We can touch base again once we have that information regarding potential next steps.
Thanks again and please feel free to follow up with additional questions or to check on status.
