City of Bloomington, Indiana

closed: Resolved #166896

City Performance:

Web Form: 100 companies are responsible for 71% of global emissions yet the City has decided local residents and their cars are the primary culprits in its parking garage denial, particularly those residents who may not have the luxuries of time, money, age, health, location, or ability to utilize other transportation modalities. This is what liberal privilege looks like, a total disconnect from the reality of working families.

Thank you for your thoughtful comment. Despite this setback, Mayor Hamilton and staff will be working to continue to provide parking for all who wish to spend time in downtown Bloomington. The future of the 4th Street garage remains uncertain, as additional study will be required to determine the full extent of the damage to the building thanks to many years of poor maintenance. Additional time and money will be required to complete the analysis of the existing structure - time and money that would not have been necessary if City Council had voted to replace the garage with a modern, upgraded facility. Mayor Hamilton feels strongly that the repairs or replacement of the garage should be handled in a way to minimize inconvenience and and disruption to downtown workers, residents and visitors.
