Dear Ms. Taylor,
Thank you for your email and for expressing your concerns about this issue. I appreciate you taking the time to raise awareness of these issues and I apologize that you have not received a response to the uReport you submitted.
I have reached out to Terri Porter, our Director of Planning and Transportation, who I have copied on this email. She alerted me that city staff have investigated speeds and crash history at this intersection and we agree that it would benefit from installation of a traffic signal. At this time we do not have funding budgeted for the signal's installation, but we are trying to at least begin the design process while we pursue funding options. I can assure you that safety is a top priority and we are committed to making improvements at this intersection. Please feel free to continue to reach out to us with questions or to request a status update.
Further, I have contacted our Public Works department to inform them about the damaged street light. They will report this issue directly to Duke Energy.
Again, I appreciate your engagement on this issue that concerns public safety. I understand you called my office to set up an appointment, and I look forward to speaking with you on this issue. If you have any additional questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out to my office.
Sincerely,
John Hamilton
