Web Form: Good afternoon, We are at 300 N Jordan and have a honey bee hive between the 2nd and 3rd floor of our building. We do not want IU to exterminate them. Do you have anyone or any recommendations of someone who will move the hive? Any information will be helpful. You may contact me at 812-856-1580 or ldragoin@iu.edu with any info. Thank you!

Thanks for reaching out. Give the location, it may be difficult for some individuals to safely remove. There are a few members of the Bloomington Bee Keepers Club that use to remove swarms, unfortunately I do not have any current contacts. You could reach out to them through https://www.facebook.com/groups/Bloomingtonbeekeepers/. Indiana University also has a bee keeping club through the Hilltop Garden and Nature Center. Not sure if they can help, but may have good recommendations. Fred Abbot at 812-876-4591 and Mike Heter at 812-988-8430 have assisted in removing hives locally. I believe that they both relocated the hives, but please double check with them. Indiana DNR has a list of approved swarm removers on their website at https://www.in.gov/dnr/entomolo/5755.htm. Again I am not sure if any of these would relocate. If you have time, I would suggest reaching out to the Bee Keepers Club and Hilltop Garden for help first.
