Hi Keith!
Thank you for reaching out. I'm not sure if you know of your neighborhood's efforts to participate in the Neighborhood Traffic Safety Program (or, NTSP for short). So forgive me (and feel free to skip ahead to the second to last paragraph) if this isn't new information to you.
The process that your neighbors and the City of Bloomington Planning and Transportation Department have undergone required residents to collect signatures from 51% of affected households to apply to the program, and now the City of Bloomington P&T Department are working to collect data on speed and volume on Countryside and West Adams Hill Road to help us better identify strategies which would be the most effective for the issues observed in this neighborhood specifically.
Given that we are collecting data to inform our processes moving forward, it is unlikely that we will remove the speed humps until a more permanent design is presented and voted upon by the residents. We hope the next two stages of this process will be complete in the next two months.
Would you like to be notified of the time/ location of our next informal work session? At said meeting, you and other residents will be able to provide input as to what traffic calming strategies would be the best fit. If you are interested: feel free to send me an email (rickbeilm@bloomington.in.gov) and I will loop you in with the other neighborhood organizers to make sure that you know when and where to direct your thoughts when the time comes.
Let me know if you have any questions, or need any additional resources from me. I'd be happy to help in any way that I can.
Be Well,
Mallory
