I contacted Ms. Shaw via email and she communicated her concern regarding any change in status at Griffy. Our Assistant Director -Environmental- James Hall assisted with giving the next steps for Griffy. Here is his response:
We placed our first advertisement for demolition for the Griffy building in the paper Sunday. Our process will have the demolition contract finalized on April 28th. The contract has a 120 day completion period, so hopefully, the contractor can meet that deadline.
During the demolition process and remaining hazardous materials will be removed from the site and disposed of at the proper location. The building and site will be leveled and have clean soil placed back on top. We plan on planting native plants back in that area.
