Mr. Boldenow, I apologize for the delayed response. Discolored water such as what you experienced a few weeks ago is normally caused by iron & manganese particulates which can be deposited from the inside of the water pipes when they experience a disturbance. The disturbances can be caused by construction in the area or by distribution system maintenance. These minerals do not pose any health concerns at the levels which cause this water tint. When a customer experiences discoloration, we normally advise them to flush their home's cold water lines for 15-20 minutes. If this does not solve the problem, we send a crew to flush out the water main. If this issue is still happening, I sincerely apologize, and I hope you will call my cell phone at 812-361-7774 or my office at 812-349-3655 to reach me directly. Sincerely, Tyler Steury CBU Water Quality Coordinator
