City of Bloomington, Indiana

closed: Resolved #173771

Street & Traffic Signs:

Other: There is a pedestrian cross-walk here, but traffic often does not stop, creating a safety hazard for pedestrians (who have the right of way). I think Kirkwood needs to have some traffic calming, and a stop sign would be one way to slow traffic and protect pedestrians.

Mr. Winters, Thank you for notifying me of this issue. The intersection that you speak of was slated to be a part of our federally funded school crosswalk improvements program, however- was unable to be included due to it's location within the historic district. So, if any improvements are to be made, it appears that these would have to be City funded. When it comes to City-funded projects, the list is long and our funding is quite limited. I can put it on my ongoing list of projects, however I regret that I can't give you a more optimistic outlook for immediate action on this project specifically. If you'd like to discuss with me at any point, do feel free to contact me at rickbeilm@bloomington.in.gov. Be Well, Mallory
