Drainage or Runoff:

Other: Other: From E. 3rd street entrance to Park Ridge addition, there is a significant slope of the street to the west side creating pooling of rainwater and debris. The continued presence of water/mud/debris has caused breakdown and potholes in the pavement. These potholes are "patched" periodically, but quickly erode again due to the inadequate drainage system. The nearest storm drain is approx. 1/2 block north on the east side of the street -the slope of the road on the opposite side of the storm drain. I have added pictures to show the issues directly in front of my house, however, the same conditions exist along the entire block. From my understanding, the road was to be resurfaced this past summer. I have concerns if the street drainage issue is not addressed prior to this, there will be continued problems. There is to be a new city bus route beginning soon which will have the buses traveling this portion of the road several times a day and will most likely factor in to creating more problems with the pavement. Thank you for your attention to this matter.

concrete in the gutter for driveways needs removed and the curbs at the driveways needs replaced with depressed curbs. The Street Dept. might remove the concrete but it would be the homeowner's responsibility to replace the curb if they fill it is necessary for access to their drive.

Thank you for the pictures. I had looked at this area last year. The problem here is the concrete that the homeowners have placed in the gutter of the curbline. It blocks the flow of the water where it is intended to travel and allows it to pool on the upstream side causing damage to asphalt. The problem is more evident on sections of roadway like this that have a flatter grade. The solution is to remove the concrete that was poured in the gutter and replace the curb with a recessed curb so it's easier to drive over. The recessed curb typically has a 2" rise versus 5"-6" rise of the existing rollcurb. Some of the driveway will need to be replaced to transition the pavement to the new lower curb height. Removing the concrete in the gutter should solve the problem and the curb replacement is only required if the homeowner finds it necessary for accessing their driveway. Many properties in this neighborhood do not have concrete at the gutter and can still access their driveways with the existing rollcurb. I see this as a private property matter and not something a City department would be responsible for but I will reach out to some other City Departments because I do recognize that it is a problem throughout this neighborhood. A comprehensive approach and partnership could be the solution.

Thanks for reaching out to us so we can examine this issue. With there being several entrances to the Park Ridge neighborhood, which street or address had the biggest issue? I'm sorry but your pictures didn't come through.
