Parks & Rec Buildings:

Other: The idea that Bloomington does not allow basketball or turf rentals at the TLRC is preposterous at this point in the pandemic. The positive case numbers have continued to drop, Monroe County has the lowest positive rate in the entire state, and TLRC has already shown they can operate safely. There is no reason at this point to continually take away opportunities from youth sports in Bloomington. It is long overdue that someone like John Turnbull is held accountable to create opportunities for youth sports instead of continually take them away and claim that "participation numbers are down" that is a direct reflection of the lack of initiative in his department and it starts at the top.

The Parks and Recreation Department has based all COVID-19 closings and cancellations on health orders made by the Monroe County Health Department. These decisions are made to keep users and staff safe. With the most recent update to the health orders, effective Monday, Feb. 15: Gathering size is limited to no more than 50 people. The use of face coverings is required when not engaged in vigorous exercise. Court rentals resume, with no spectators. Per Monroe County Health Department guidelines, there will be an empty court between each rented court, so only Courts 1, 3, and 5 will be available. One court will be reserved for member use only. Turf rental, and turf use by members, resumes with no spectators. Pickleball play takes place on Court 5 only, Monday-Wednesday-Friday from 9 a.m. through 1 p.m. The TLRC will resume accepting new member applications, as well as day use passes. Aerial silks programs resume, with no spectators.
