Hi There! Thanks for reaching out.
You may know that Park Ridge East applied for Resident Led Traffic Calming in response to reports of this behavior this year. As it stands, it appears this project did not rise to the level to which we feel funding is likely to occur. However, the project application will be active for at least one more year- so there is potential in future project years.
I also know that there have been questions about the feasibility of of placing a 'No Thru Traffic' on Morningside at this time. These strategies are generally ineffective in curbing cut-through behaviors, as well as I do not believe there is specific code which serves to regulate which motorists constitute 'drive thru' traffic or not. Engineering is the department largely responsible for sign placement, please feel free to email me if you would like me to put you in touch.
I do believe that the planned Greenway installation on Morningside will help remediate the cut through behavior reported, as well as mitigate speed non-compliance in the area. As it stands, it may be 3-5 years before this is planned/ installed.
Please feel free to reach out to me if you would like to discuss more. I can best be reached via email rickbeilm@bloomington.in.gov. I am also available at my desk phone between 12-4pm on Tuesdays/ Thursdays starting next week.
Again, please reach out if you would like to discuss more. Thank you.
Mallory
