Business:

Other: The workers are being illegally stripped of their earnings by the management. In an incident that occurred Saturday ( June 19th), I believe, a waitress had a large party of 15 guests walk out on her without paying the bill. The manager then made her pay their bill out of her own pocket which was hundreds of dollars. This is also not the first time I have heard of this restaurant doing such a thing. This is not only Illegal but extremely abhorrent behavior. I am emailing and contacting as many governmental authorities as I can so that something can be done about this. If you have any better leads on where I can talk to the right people about this abuse of power please let me know.

Hi, Thank you for reaching out regarding the situation at Bub's. It's certainly concerning. While the City doesn't have jurisdiction over this particular situation, I am dismayed to learn that this practice is going on there. I am also dismayed that people would dine-and-dash like that, leaving the server in that predicament. FYI, I found the following summary of the legal implications of the situation you describe, which I found helpful: https://www.consumerreports.org/consumerist/after-a-dine-and-dash-is-it-legal-for-a-restaurant-to-take-money-from-a-waiters-tips/ I would also encourage you reach out to the Department of Labor, Wage & Hour Division, Indiana office if you believe this is a chronic issue with this or any local establishment: Indiana Indianapolis District Office Address U.S. Department of Labor Wage and Hour Division 135 North Pennsylvania Street, Suite 700 Indianapolis, IN 46204 Phone (317) 226-6801 1-866-4-USWAGE (1-866-487-9243) District Director Patricia Lewis Thank you again for raising this to my attention.
