City of Bloomington, Indiana

Biking & Walking:

Other: A recent article notes the 7-line is nearing completion: https://indianapublicmedia.org/news/city-of-bloomington-continues-to-invest-in-multimodal-transportation.php?fbclid=IwAR2ov2rGiRInft6Uv4iNmbmVSzPC5jM-3m8JBBbEKeinfDGQcwjDiqGjm7E. That is NOT the case is my understanding, as the 7-line still will go all the way to Brewster's? We're SUPER looking forward to a full east-west pathway.

Hi there! Thanks for your message. We are also excited about building out our High Priority Multimodal Network to include East/ West connectivity via 7th Street. As it relates to your question- the answer is yes and no. Yes, per the Bloomington Transportation Plan (https://bloomington.in.gov/sites/default/files/2019-07/05.22.2019%20Transportation%20Plan%20Council%20Approved%20edits_0.pdf, pg. 48) we are building a network connection between the B-Line to the West and past Smith Road to Morningside Drive on the East. However the 7-line protected bike lane facility is just one part of that connection, we are also in the design phase of a Neighborhood Greenway along 7th from Union (construction Spring 2022) to SR 46 underpass. Phase 3 of this project will require a Neighborhood Greenway from the underpass to Smith Road, and finally a Neighborhood Greenway from Smith Road to the East end of Morningside Drive. Let me know if you have any questions or would like to be added to the list of people who receive updates on our Traffic Calming and Greenways Program Updates. I'd be happy to discuss more and/ or add you to the list!
