City of Bloomington, Indiana

closed: Can't Fix #176991

Traffic Related Complaints:

Other: The noise from a constant flow of dump trucks and motorcycles is intolerable. The streets and walking paths are now coated with dirt and sand that washes out from around the street lights, gravel, road trash that requires CONSTANT removal and mostly from the dirt that comes out from uncovered dump trucks servicing the Trinitas project. Our rental house sits close to the road where the noise level is unacceptable. The retaining walls cause even more noise than before. We need some speed and noise control, please. Aren't there weight limits for residential streets? Semitrucks and trailers and full dump trucks do not belong on residential streets do they? I thought that's what "highways" were for.

While being residential, W 17th St is a major connector road as a result of network changes generated by INDOT's I-69 project. It is possible that nearby construction projects are generating increased heavy vehicle usage. If you observe significant tracking of materials from area projects, please take a picture and share your observations with CBU for assistance with enforcement. The city is deploying the radar speed trailer on W 17th to assist with speed limit awareness. Please note that there are limitations on where the trailer can be placed (e.g., can't block sidewalk or be on significant grade).
