uReport

City of Bloomington, Indiana

closed: Resolved #177896

Line of Sight:

Other: The intersection of Bloomfield road and West Allen street has terrible line of sight to turn either left or right just due to the physical lay out of that T intersection. To make matters worse the trees/brush and vegetation add to even more reduced line of sight. This needs addressed with a more permanent solution than an occasional notice of violation to the property owner which you have done in past. This is only a temporary partial solution that minimally improves line of sight. The long term answer would be to open the intersection up by allowing a person to have a right turn lane and have the street widened to allow a vehicle to position their vehicle for a right turn with out dangerously protruding out onto Bloomfield road to be able to see if you can even begin to move.

Thank you for your patience. Upon further review, staff determined vegetation has been cleared at this intersection and will not be sending a notice of violence at this time. However, the staff is preparing a work order to have a stop bar installed close to Bloomfield Rd. to help communicate where approaching vehicles should stop for improved visibility.

Thank you for taking the time to submit this urReport regarding the intersection of Bloomfield and Allen. After evaluating this intersection, we will be sending a notice of violation to require that the vegetation is trimmed back to improve visibility. We agree with your statement that a more permanent solution would be beneficial. However, there is not currently an active project to improve this intersection. This project request will first need to be evaluated and prioritized for funding among a wide range of other safety and mobility projects throughout the City.
