City of Bloomington, Indiana

closed: Resolved #177951

Street Lights:

Other: There are no street lights on South Clarizz Blvd, particularly in the area south of Buick Cadillac Rd. It feels very unsafe, there are multiple bus stops and traffic at all hours. It is hard to see pedestrians and as a pedestrian it is hard to see anything when it is dark out (ie. tripping hazards, etc.). Street lights need to be installed in this area, it is extremely dark when the sun is not out.

I have placed resident's request location on DPW's worksheet for future consideration due to the funding allocation for this program for 2021 has already be spent. I will look at this location in 2022. Also, I have provided the resident with my contact information.

Mr. Zomer, Thank you for your street light request. The City of Bloomington leases lights through Duke Energy and pays for the installation, energy usage and maintenance costs with Duke providing the maintenances services. Each year the Department of Public Works installs lights, primarily at intersections, at locations requested by residents. I have placed your request area on our Street Light Residential Request worksheet for future consideration. Funding allocation for 2021 has been spent so I will take a look at this location in 2022. If you would like discuss this further, please feel free to contact me by email at smithc@bloomington.in.gov or by phone at 812.349.3589. Best Christina
