Followed up with complainant and made referrals.
Other: The condo is quarter gentry. Location: 1350 S. College Mall Rd, Bloomington, Indiana. Someone (highly likely the downstairs neighbor) is smoking excessively in the building. My condo reeks of cigarettes smoke. I began smelling cigarette smoke in October and by November, it had become excessive and is causing me serious health issues. I am allergic to cigarette smoke. After a few days of breathing the secondhand smoke, I became congested with an intense sinus headache and a continual cough. My daughter was here from L.A. during the Thanksgiving break and her cloths in her suitcase that she never wore were saturated with smoke after her visit. It’s a clear health issue and, because of this, I couldn’t have my grandchildren here for Thanksgiving.
Followed up with complainant and made referrals.
Complainant followed up with City Legal. I let her know that the smoking by the neighbor is not a violation of the smoking ordinance or fair housing laws, as both the complainant and the smoker live in owner-occupied homes. Referred to condo association and/or private attorney.
No way to contact complainant to discuss options.
Complainant did not leave contact information. Unable to locate her through social media, so no way to follow up with her.
