City Performance:

Other: To city council: we just read through some of the very biased comments and concerns on how you believe budget and goals should be approached ahead of this budget session. Why on earth would a composting program and spending money in the short term for very specific studies help our town now? All of us citizens want this place to flourish long-term as well, but we will not survive and make it to the long term if you don’t adjust your priorities for your constituents instead of your personal gain. Pay an actual LIVING wage to employees, not just department leaders - this is egregious in many areas of this town including city. Look beyond just BFD & BPD for providing incentives. Look around, city hall cannot even staff a front desk but you expect the city to run in all other areas when employees and citizens can barely keep afloat? Very tone deaf this year by way of what seems to be selfishness. Many of us are very disappointed in this misalignment of administration and council.

Good afternoon, The City was pleased to initiate a Living Wage Ordinance which will again increase City employee wages starting in 2023. When thinking about compensation packages, it’s helpful to remember to include the entire benefits package, which in the case of the City of Bloomington is among the best out there. And additional employee benefits are being proposed in the 2023 budget. In an effort to provide excellent customer service to folks who come to City Hall for assistance, we now staff the front desk in the atrium with two employees. Usually one is from our public works department and the other is likely from one of the other departments with a busy customer service profile. This is particularly helpful as we are now providing almost all customer service functions in the atrium. Thank you.
