This case was sent to Virgil Sauder at Animal Control for investigation as they issued the permit to this groomer. Also sent an email to Megan Lighbourn of this information.
Other: On Saturday September 10th my boyfriend (Bryan Castillo) took my dog Willie to get a bath and groom at House of Paws (aka Pawsitive Grooming, Daisy's Darling Dogs) with Shena as scheduled the day before. At 3:26 pm I received a call that there was an incident with my dog. I was told that she had a small cut that was not bleeding and if they should just hold my dog down and keep grooming or I can come in and hold her down to finish. After the call Bryan Castillo and I went over there to get our dog. When we arrived the groomer brought Willie out, when we saw the cut we were in shock. There was a 2-3 inch laceration between Willie's stomach and leg. The staff was blaming Willie for the incident. The groomers were negligent in handling Willie. We had to drive an 72 miles to the nearest urgent vet at 14069 Mundy Dr, Fischer, Indiana. Our dog received several stables to close the wound.

Megan, I am following up on your report of a local pet groomer. I just wanted to let you know that we have reported this to our animal shelter who issues permits to pet stores, kennels, and groomers. They will be investigating the issue. Thank you for sharing your concerns and hope your dog is doing well. Susan Coates Economic & Sustainable Development Dept City of Bloomington
Megan, If you or your boyfriend would be available to speak with an Animal Control Officer about this incident, please let us know the best way to get in touch with you.
This is per the email and voicemail I sent you. Let me know if this is the incorrect process. Thanks. Susan x3418
Hi Susan, Can you check with Larry to see if any City department has any authority over this situation. I don't think ESD does because they're not licensed through us. When you get an answer, please contact Megan (by phone?) or via uReport email to let her know. Then you can close. Thanks, Alex
Hi Megan, Oh my goodness, that sounds like a terrible experience. I'm so sorry to hear it happened. I will inquire here at the City what if any jurisdictional authority we might have over this situation. Because we don't license these types of business, my department doesn't seem to have a regulatory relationship with the business and thus we may not have any authority. But perhaps another department does. Having said this and absent any kind of other action, we can let them know that you have alerted the City and are concerned about the quality of care they are providing. Please let me know if you want us to do that -- I'm sensitive to maintaining your confidentiality. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions and please let me know about us contacting them. Again, I'm so sorry about this situation. I hope your dog is recovering.
