City of Bloomington, Indiana

closed: Resolved #181520

Line of Sight:

Other: The stop sign on the northeast corner is set very far to the north of the street; I’ve witnessed many cars ignoring it because it is difficult to see. I suggest moving it into the raised planter bed, much like how the stop sign on the southwest corner is placed. The problem is made worse when a tall vehicle is parked near the corner, which makes the stop sign impossible for west bound traffic to see.

Thank you for submitting this report. The Indiana MUTCD (Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices) is the guidance for placement and requires all stop signs to be placed ahead of crosswalks on any given street. For this location its current position is most appropriate but this suggestion will be considered in future projects.
